HP AlphaServer systems are intelligently engineered to enable your business to respond The alphaserver 8400 system includes one to 12 of these 300-MHz chips, with up to 14 GB in-memory capacity, a choice of pre-installed OpenVMS or Digital Unix operating systems now, with Windows NT in the future, and reliability features such as hot swap disks, RAID, fault management and uninterruptible power systems. The AlphaServer ES45 includes up to four 1 GHz 64-bit Alpha chips and supports the Tru64 Unix with TruCluster Servers, Open VMS and Linux operating systems. The ES45 competes with such products as Sun Microsystem Inc.'s Blade 1000, IBM's 660 P series and Hewlett-Packard Co.'s L3000 servers. Current and future versions of HP's Tru64 UNIX and OpenVMS operating systems will support these new AlphaServer systems, ensuring that customers can deploy the new systems into their existing environments without requiring any software changes or business disruptions. In addition, recent enhancements in OpenVMS provide for dramatic increases in application performance and scalability on large HP AlphaServer GS series systems.
